About Dr. Chinks

For over a decade Dr. Chinks has worked in the field of psychology and human sexuality, treating patients with female sexual pain disorders as well as successfully assisting individuals and couples with a wide range of sexual issues. A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Chinks also has experience treating various mental health issues associated with sexual issues, including (but not limited to) the following: depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, panic attacks, body image, low self-esteem, and other mental illnesses.

With each patient, Dr. Chinks strives to understand and treat the whole person. Her approach not only targets her patients’ sexual symptom(s), but includes treatment of the repercussions that these symptom have on the individual, his or her partner, and/or their relationship. Additionally, Dr. Chinks helps her patients address issues in the non-sexual spheres of their lives. By combining her expertise in human sexuality, as well as her compassion and commitment to her patients, Dr. Chinks has created a holistic approach to the treatment of sexual issues that resonates with her patients.

Dr. Chinks received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from William James College (Psy.D. 2011), as well as her Master’s in Clinical Sexology from the University of Québec in Montreal (M.A. 2006). She trained on the internationally-renowned Human Sexuality Unit of the Montreal General Hospital in Montreal, Canada, as well as various other inpatient and outpatient sites in and around the Boston area, including the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, the Cambridge Health Alliance and the Brookline Community Mental Health Center. 

Dr. Chinks has been invited as a discussant for Grand Rounds in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the McGill University Health Center and has been interviewed by various media outlets on a variety of topics pertaining to sexuality and sexual health. She also lectures to mental health professionals around the greater Boston area on topics related to human sexuality and sexual dysfunction. Dr. Chinks is fluent in English and French.
